Having only formed within the last year, Boston pop punkers Tempting Heights are slowly starting to make a name for themselves. The band just released their self-titled EP, which you can stream over on their BandCamp page here! Get to know more about Tempting Heights below!
How did Tempting Heights form and come to be what it is today?
Jose, Nick and our former drummer had been playing with various people over the course of 2 years or so. I joined the band over the fall of 2015 and everything sort of clicked as a group. Our drummer wanted to pursue other forms of art and creativity, which is fine as we are all still friends and support his work. We connected with Kevin last month, and things couldn’t be going any better.
Who are some of your musical influences – both as a band and individually?
Personally, I (Matt) grew up on the Mid 90’s Fat/Epitaph/Hopeless sounds, and a lot of hip hop, both of which I still listen to currently, and try and let those influences creep subtly into our music. As a band however, our influences are all over the place from All Time Low, Set Your Goals, early Fall out Boy, and I know Jose likes a lot of Soul singers.
What do you enjoy most about playing shows?
We definitely enjoy playing shows with friends, which makes it all the more fun to hang out and support, as well as meeting new people that vibe on your music and dig what you do. Plus a couple of us have an affinity for spirits.
What do you do when you’re not playing music?
Jose and I definitely play FIFA 16 against each other, while taking breaks from song writing. Kevin is a tattoo artist and does some pretty fantastic work (pleasureinpaintaunton.com). When we aren’t playing or writing, Nick does a lot of collaborations with other musicians.
