REVIEW:: Silk Cuts | Get Involved!

image

At first, Get Involved! newest EP, Silk Cuts, just sounds like a lot of racket. But from what I discovered listening to the album all the way through is that it’s a racket that grows on you the more you listen to it. And, it is especially good if you’re looking for something to musically help you relieve a bit of a aggression (and don’t lie, we all have those times).

Comprised of former members from Glassjaw, From Autumn to Ashes, and Thursday, the Silk Cuts EP is said to “showcase the various sides” of the band, and create a “progressive brand of music that transcends [punk/hardcore]” while still implementing aspects of the genre that fans have liked for years. So needless to say, in shorter terms, if you are a fan of any of the band member’s former acts, Get Involved! isn’t a far cry from those sounds. Even if the vocals aren’t exactly your cup of tea, which was somewhat the case for me, the guitar riffs and drums that are enough to keep you listening.

Release Date: March 3, 2014
Rating: 3.5/5
Time Length: ~14.5 minutes

Track Listing:
1. “Let Your Guard Down”
2. “Paint It Gold”
3. “Serenity Now”
4. “Apathy”

Get Involved! is:
Todd Weinstock (guitar)
Brian Deneeve (guitar)
Tucker Rule (drums)
