Members: Nick Santino (vocals/guitar), Reeve Powers (bass), and Austin Scates (drums)
Genre: Indie-Pop
Latest Release: What A Drag

Indie-pop band Beach Weather kind of came out of nowhere a few months ago. The band released their debut EP, What A Drag, joined The Maine as support on their American Candy tour and then once again on The Free For All Tour. Now in 2016, the band just wrapped their tour with Sleeping With Sirens and released their new music video for their track “New Skin.” Filled with good vibes, reminiscent of summer tunes you’d be playing in the car with the windows down, Beach Weather is a new exciting venture from ex-A Rocket To The Moon frontman, Nick Santino. Get to know more about Beach Weather, all questions answered by bassist Reeve Powers, below!

How did Beach Weather form and come to be what it is today?
Nick was looking to start a full band because he had been playing a lot of solo shows. We had been in contact for about a year at this point because his old band would always come to Nashville & I would regularly attend their shows. Then a friend from another band referred us to Austin to play drums with us. We all got put in a room together out in Arizona in August and the rest is history.

Who are some of your musical influences – both as a band and individually?
When it comes to bass playing, I personally look up to Jared Followill of Kings of Leon. Just like him, I didn’t even play bass til I joined the band. It’s really cool to hear his skills build quickly from album to album. Often times, his bass lines are the root of the whole song. As a band, we love everything from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers to The 1975. Anything that has a nice groove.

What do you enjoy most about playing shows?
Being a new band and all, my favorite part of playing shows is knowing I have to play my ass off to get people’s attention. It’s very fun knowing that you can leave that night at least with a handful of new fans.

What do you do when you’re not playing music?
When I’m not playing music, I’m usually listening to music… Haha but, seriously, it kinda takes over my whole life. Although, I do have friends outside of the music realm & we will sometimes go out to some local spots to play pool or darts.
